A Standard Missile 2 (SM-2) launches from the aft Vertical Launching System (VLS) aboard the U.S. Navy destroyer USS O'Kane (DDG 77). The launch was part of a live fire exercise while participating in Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2006. Eight nations are participating in RIMPAC, the world's largest biennial maritime exercise.
