My son is a Marine aboard the Tarawa. His Unit deployed aboard the Tarawa back in Nov and still have time to go.
Thanks for the picture. It helps me to understand just a small a big ship can be in the middle of a vast ocean.

I served in the Marine Corps between 1986-1990. Went to Guantanomo Bay, Cuba when the Marines there were known as the "Ground Defense Forces" and before anyone knew of this place until after 9/11. I then resided at Camp Pendleton for the duration of my enlistment with 9th Comm Bn.

I'm honored that your Son is serving in the Marines today. It was much easier for me to join up when we were at peace. For this, his decision has greater import. He is a true man.

My nephew just joined the Navy and is in Intel. I can't wait to hear his stories, if he can divulge anything that is.

I salute these brave beautiful young men who serve in the armies of Caesar for God, Country and Corps. I think I can speak for both of us when I say that we are eternally grateful.

Semper Fidelis.
